STATEMENT

Throughout the years, Alici developed a personal narrative language involving symbolism which explores themes such as collective memory, fairy-tale inspired imagery, antique myths and the cult of ancient divinities. Dreamlike atmospheres and fantastic scenarios find expression through big-sizes paintings that "embrace" and include the viewer into an immersive experience. The presence of female figures within bucolic scenes, often inhabited by animals, outlines two constant features of the artist's work: the attempt to define the role of women in today's society, and an instinctive (almost visceral) connection to nature. "I love trees, especially ancient ones - I love their shapes. [When I paint them] I feel like building a bond with the wisest life-form on the planet"; and like tree leaves, the artist's palette changes and envolves almost seasonally, with dynamic colour contrasts.

These silent images demand investigation, pushing the viewer to question the symbology laying behind figures and gestures, and invite to explore and wander through unexpected scenarios.

Alici, with her gentle touch, plays with the lure of the unknown.
